Sitting Around Collecting Dust

Following much research, solicitation of advice from experts, investigation of available products, etc, etc, I acted on a tip about a dust collection system on craigslist. My college buddy John Davis and I headed up to Clarksville, VA where we found a very large, very heavy, very lightly used dust collection system. After some disassembly to make the weight and size more manageable, we were able to get it into the bed of John’s pick-up. It traveled just fine on the trip back to Cary, and the unloading was much easier than the loading.

With the gracious help of a couple of neighbors, the system was reassembled and now sits in the corner of my workshop/garage.  The next step is to acquire and install duct work to connect my tools to the dust collector.

Dust from a woodworking shop can be very dangerous, and I have been creating a lot of dust. I was overdue for addressing this issue, and this will be a major step in that direction.
